WikiQueer:Chief Spam Slicer
| This page documents an English WikiQueer policy, a widely accepted standard that all editors should normally follow. Changes made to it should reflect consensus. |
| This page in a nutshell: Chief Spam Slicer oordinator of WikiQueer's spam reduction efforts and responsible for reduction of Spam postings on WikiQueer and is trusted with access to wiki administrator tools to manage WikiQueer. As with administrators, they are expected to observe a high standard of conduct, to use the tools fairly, and never to use them to gain advantage in a dispute. |
Online Spam can be a major problem for wikis and websites in general. To combat this problem, WikiQueer proactively engages and empowers our editors to seek out and eliminate Spam posted on WikiQueer. To coordinate those efforts and take a lead in Spam elimination, WikiQueer's Lead Administrator, with support from the Global Advisory Board, established the Chief Spam Slicer role. This individual serves on WikiQueer's Content Working Group. They are appointed by the Lead Administrator with input from the Global Advisory Board. BryceQ was appointed the Inaugural Chief Spam Slicer on April 10, 2012 by WikiGregory.

[edit] Activities
Spam is the inappropriate addition of links or information to WikiQueer with the sole purpose of promoting an outside organization, individual or idea; it is considered harmful. The Chief Spam Slicer coordinates WikiQueer's response to these actions.
[edit] Wiki Administrator Functions
Administrators, commonly known as admins or in the past sysops (system operators), are trusted with access to restricted technical features ("tools"). For example, administrators can protect, delete and restore pages, move pages over redirects, hide and delete page revisions, and block other editors. See WikiQueer:Administrators/Tools for more information about the tools administrators have.
[edit] WikiQueer:WikiProject Spam
WikiProject Spam is a voluntary Spam-fighting brigade. The purpose is: to develop standards and processes for recognizing, hunting down, and eliminating link spam; to streamline communication between those who want to watch over articles to prevent it; and, to send a message by our actions and effectiveness that link spammers are fighting a war they cannot win.
[edit] Current Chief Spam Slicer
Showing an early vigor for combating Spam, BryceQ was appointed the Inaugural Chief Spam Slicer on April 10, 2012 by WikiGregory.
[edit] Future Development / Appointments
Ultimately as WikiQueer develops and the volunteer base expands, some roles of the Chief Spam Slicer will be distributed between volunteers serving as WikiQueer:Administrators and participants in WikiQueer:WikiProject Spam. The timing and specifics will be determined by the Lead Administrator with input from WikiQueer's Global Advisory Board. Until that time, the Chief Spam Slicer serves in a larger and more active capacity than is traditional for wiki spam patrollers, and is the lead coordinator of WikiQueer:WikiProject Spam.
