During WikiQueer's Inauguration, the LGBT community wiki project joins global effort to increase support and resources for LGBT causes which has already recieved Apple’s approval and early priase from users.

Ann Arbor, MI and Amsterdam, Netherlands – March 23, 2012 – WikiQueer, the free encyclopedia and resource hub for the LGBT communities, has announced their participation in LGBTsupports, a free mobile application available on iPhones, iPads and other popular devices is raising awareness and resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) projects around the globe.

“LGBTsupport's ability to raise awareness of WikiQueer while also raising resources for this global effort made our participation an easy decision," said Gregory Varnum, founder and lead of WikiQueer's parent organization, The Aequalitas Project. He added, "I'm particularly enthusiastic about the possibility of integrity WikiQueer's growing base of content into future versions of LGBTsupports.” Gregory has also joined the team at Canela Foundation as director of north america to help expand their base in North America.

On a regular basis, LGBTsupports present stories, campaigns and projects like WikiQueer. Users of the app can learn more, read personal stories, share the information on their social networks, and have an opportunity to support WikiQueer and The Aequalitas Project.

“Developing LGBTsupport’s ability to raise support and resources for the organizations working to end the persecution has been crucial to us,” said Jannet Honigmann, co-founder and global director of app developer, Canela Foundation. “LGBTsupports was designed to create a solid platform within the growing mobile market to expand each organization’s capacity.”

LGBTsupports is currently available for free in Apple’s iOS App Store. Work is already underway for an Android edition with plans for other platforms to follow. More information and download links are available at the LGBTsupports website: www.lgbtsupports.org

This announcement is a part of WikiQueer's Inauguration, includes the launching of a number of new initiatives with Campus Pride, Canela Foundation, Family Equality Council, Harvey Milk Foundation, and the Movement Advancement Project.
