In recognition of Harvey Milk's birthday, the Houston GLBT Community Center will host the Harvey Milk Picnic and Birthday Celebration on Sunday, May 22, 1-4 p.m., on the campus of the Historic Dow School (home of The Center).

The Center encourages people to bring food or beverage items, if they are able, for the potluck picnic. The Center will provide birthday cake, and community performers will lead the crowd in a chorus of "Happy Birthday" to Harvey.

The Center will welcome donations for the John Lawrence and Tyrone Garner Scholarship Fund of the Houston GLBT Community Center, which provides scholarships for GLBT-identified high school seniors pursuing higher education. The Center awards the scholarship annually at the Lawrence v. Texas Commemoration, which is held on June 26, the date that the Supreme Court decision in the historic case was announced.
